Eagle Pass Police Arrest Two Dallas Men After High-Speed Pursuit and Serious Criminal Charges
EAGLE PASS, Texas — A late-night pursuit in Eagle Pass led to the arrest of two Dallas men now facing serious criminal charges, including reckless driving, firearm violations, and possession of child pornography.
On Thursday, August 28, 2025, at approximately 11:32 p.m., an Eagle Pass Police Department patrol officer attempted to stop a silver 2012 Chevrolet pickup clocked at 81 miles per hour in a 40 MPH zone on Main Street. The driver failed to stop, initiating a pursuit through city streets.
Police said the driver turned off the vehicle’s headlights during the chase, creating a dangerous situation for other motorists. The pursuit eventually ended in the 1200 block of Royal Ridge Drive, where officers detained the suspects without further incident.

The driver was identified as 17-year-old Pedro Emmanuel Mendoza of Dallas, Texas. He was charged with reckless driving, evading arrest with a vehicle, and unlawful carrying of a firearm. Mendoza was booked into the Tom Bowles Detention Center under a combined $12,000 bond.
The passenger, 18-year-old Jose Angel Gutierrez of Dallas, Texas, was charged with possession of child pornography after officers located incriminating materials. Gutierrez was booked into the Tom Bowles Detention Center under a $30,000 bond.
Further investigation revealed that both men had traveled to Eagle Pass with the intent of engaging in human smuggling activity, according to police. A Glock pistol was recovered inside the vehicle operated by Mendoza.

The case remains under investigation by the Eagle Pass Police Department Special Crimes Victims Unit and the EPPD Gang Unit.
Authorities stressed that both individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
