Nueva Era Dos Files Pipeline Application with FERC

Nueva Era Dos, LLC has officially filed an application with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to build a new natural gas pipeline connecting Maverick County, Texas, with Coahuila, Mexico. The filing was submitted on July 24, 2025, under Docket No. CP25-527-000.
The project seeks federal approval for Section 3 Authorization and a Presidential Permit under the Natural Gas Act. If approved, the company plans to construct and operate new border-crossing facilities on the international boundary south of Eagle Pass.
Border Pipeline Proposal and Construction Plans
Nueva Era Dos plans to construct a self-contained 36-inch pipeline stretching approximately 3,603 feet from the U.S. side of the border into Mexico using horizontal directional drilling (HDD).
Before this segment can begin, the company will also build a 31-mile, 36-inch intrastate pipeline from Zavala County to the Maverick County interconnection site. This segment will transport gas to the border facility.
The company expects to receive federal approval by April 2026 and plans to have the project completed and in service by April 2027.
The construction is expected to have minimal environmental impact.
Purpose of the Project
Nueva Era Dos states that the project is designed to serve industrial customers in Mexico. The company will own the pipeline, while construction and operations will be managed by its affiliate, Texas Pipeline LLC.
Notice to Landowners
Landowners whose property may be temporarily or permanently crossed by the project have been or will be contacted for easement agreements.
