Local Police Charge Multiple Individuals in Connection with Separate Incidents

The Eagle Pass Police Department (EPPD) announced the arrest of 24-year-old Nicolas Roberto Benavidez in connection with the burglary and vandalism of four local businesses on Del Rio Boulevard. The crimes occurred in the early hours of January 2, 2025, and resulted in significant damage to the establishments.

Benavidez faces multiple charges, including two counts of criminal mischief and burglary of a building. He was presented before a magistrate, who issued the following bonds:

  • $2,500 for Criminal Mischief (Class A Misdemeanor)
  • $7,000 for Criminal Mischief ($2,500 but less than $30,000, State Jail Felony)
  • $7,000 for Burglary of a Building (State Jail Felony)

Benavidez has been transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center, where he remains in custody. Authorities emphasized that he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Street Fight on Main Street Leads to Multiple Arrests

In a separate incident, EPPD officers responded to reports of a fight in progress on Main Street in the early hours of January 5, 2025. Officers attempting to break up the fight encountered individuals resisting arrest and fleeing the scene. Five individuals were subsequently arrested and charged with various offenses:

  • Dalen Darryl Gallegos: Charged with Class C Disorderly Conduct.
  • Adamary Rodriguez: Charged with Misdemeanor B Interference with duties of a public servant.
  • Angel Rodriguez: Charged with Misdemeanor A Evading Arrest and Misdemeanor B Interference with duties of a public servant.
  • Jesus Rodriguez Jr.: Charged with Class C Disorderly Conduct and Misdemeanor A Evading Arrest.
  • Cesar Javier Aguilera: Charged with Misdemeanor A Resisting Arrest, Misdemeanor B Interference with duties of a public servant, and Misdemeanor A Escape from Custody.

All individuals were taken into custody and are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
