On October 11, 2024, San Felipe Del Rio Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) received a $5,000 grant from T-Mobile as part of the company’s Friday Night 5G Lights initiative. This program celebrates the passion and unity found in high school football, particularly in rural areas like Del Rio, Texas, where Friday night football games are a cherished tradition that brings the community together.

T-Mobile’s Commitment to Rural Communities

T-Mobile has been heavily investing in rural America, expanding its 5G coverage to nearly 500,000 square miles and opening new stores to serve underserved areas. As part of their efforts to give back, T-Mobile launched the Friday Night 5G Lights initiative, which not only highlights the importance of community sports but also provides financial support to local schools and programs that are at the heart of these communities.

According to sources close to the project, the $5,000 grant will be put to good use within the San Felipe Del Rio Athletics department, which plays a key role in uniting the school and the broader community through sports and extracurricular activities.
