In Del Rio, Texas, the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) apprehended an armed individual who was walking at night in the Chihuahua area, wearing a bulletproof vest and carrying firearms. The incident has sparked significant concern and debate over the response of the local police force.
According to reports, the Del Rio Police Department (DRPD) was initially aware of the potential threat. However, when Patrol Captain Roman was informed about the suspect, he failed to take immediate action. This delay prompted the USMS to step in and take control of the situation.

According to the released statement, Captain Roman instructed all DRPD personnel to withdraw from the scene and avoid engaging with the dangerous suspect. This decision has raised serious questions about the DRPD’s preparedness and protocols for handling potential active shooter situations.
The suspect was ultimately apprehended by the U.S. Marshals without further incident. However, the actions of Captain Roman and the subsequent support of his decision by Sheriff Martinez have sparked controversy. Sheriff Martinez backed the USMS intervention and justified preventing the DRPD from participating in the arrest due to their initial lack of response.
This incident has led to a broader discussion about the readiness of local law enforcement to deal with high-risk situations and the protocols in place for inter-agency cooperation. The community is calling for an investigation into the DRPD’s handling of the situation and seeking assurances that such lapses in response will not occur in the future.
Residents of Del Rio are demanding answers and greater transparency from their local police department. Many are questioning whether the DRPD has the necessary training and leadership to effectively protect the community in critical moments.
As the investigation continues, the focus remains on ensuring that law enforcement agencies can coordinate effectively and respond swiftly to potential threats. Safeguarding the residents of Del Rio and maintaining public trust is paramount.

Good report. This is the same captain that assaulted me for filing a complaint. Furthermore the Texas Ranger lied to the grand jury with assistance of the district attorney. They accuse me of filing a false report and claim the Captain never got close to me. I have video and photos they did. It know of. Obtained through Public Information. Shows captain grabbing me and pushing me. Proves they covered up for him. Video shows I was assaulted and my report was not false. To punish me they have a warrant for my arrest “making false report”. After I forwarded my evidence now they don’t answer emails or calls! We need to get this story out. Assault of pulling my arm caused injury- pain. Had to get surgery two weeks ago. Currently suffering post op major surgery pain.
