In addition to referencing the Trump-Russia investigations, the censure resolution cited a report by special counsel John Durham, which criticized the FBI for rushing into the investigation of Trump’s campaign and relying heavily on unverified intelligence. However, Durham did not allege political bias as a guiding factor in the FBI’s actions.

The censure attempt comes shortly after Trump’s indictment on charges related to hoarding classified documents. House Republicans, who largely support Trump, argue that the indictment is evidence of a government conspiracy against the former president. Democratic lawmakers, on the other hand, view the censure resolution as an attempt to rewrite history and distract from Trump’s legal issues.
