Ted Cruz Warns Republicans Could Lose Every Statewide Race In Texas As Early Vote Nears 7 Million
U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz said on his podcast Thursday that Texas is excruciatingly close and Republicans could lose every statewide race, as early voting turnout neared 7 million ballots.
AUSTIN, Texas – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz warned Republicans this week that the party could lose every statewide race in Texas on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
“Texas is excruciatingly close,” Cruz said on the Thursday, Oct. 30, episode of his podcast, Verdict with Ted Cruz. “We could lose Texas, and not just the Senate race. We could lose every single statewide race in Texas. That’s how close these numbers are.”

Cruz, a Republican, said that if the election were held that day, Republicans would lose by a wide margin, calling it a possible “bloodbath,” and urged supporters to turn out.
No Democrat has won a statewide race in Texas since 1994.
Turnout and polls
Through Thursday, Oct. 29, 6,857,566 Texans had voted early, including 6,602,045 in person and 255,521 by mail, according to the Texas Secretary of State. That is about 36% of the state’s 19,041,684 registered voters. Totals from Friday, the last day of early voting, had not yet been posted.
A CNN poll conducted by SSRS from Oct. 20 to 27 among 923 likely Texas voters showed Democrat James Talarico at 49% and Republican Ken Paxton at 43% in the U.S. Senate race, and Republican Gov. Greg Abbott at 48% and Democrat Gina Hinojosa at 46% in the governor’s race, according to the poll. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.2 percentage points, which puts the governor’s race within the margin.
How to vote Tuesday
On Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and voters must cast ballots at their assigned polling place in most counties. Voters need one of seven accepted forms of photo ID. Polling places are posted at VoteTexas.gov and on county elections websites.
