Eagle Pass ISD Paid El Latino Nearly $151,000 in Taxpayer Funds

EAGLE PASS, Texas — After previously reporting that Eagle Pass Independent School District paid El Latino $122,500 in taxpayer funds, The Maverick Times conducted a follow up to determine whether those payments were still ongoing.

Records now confirm that they are.

Since the initial report, El Latino has continued to receive payments at a rate of approximately $980 per advertisement, totaling $28,420 between May 2025 and March 2026.

This brings the total amount of taxpayer funds paid to the publication to approximately $150,920 in the span of couple of years.
