Eagle Pass Arrest After Motel Incident Escalates Into Assault on Officers
EAGLE PASS, Texas — An Eagle Pass Police Department response to a vandalism call at a local motel escalated into a physical confrontation that resulted in multiple criminal charges against a 38-year-old man, according to an official media release issued by police.
Officers responded on the evening of December 27 after receiving a call reporting damage to a parked vehicle at a motel event center. Police later identified the suspect as Santos Quizma. Authorities said the vehicle had been damaged using a large rock.

Suspect Located and Refuses Commands
Police located Quizma walking northbound along Del Rio Boulevard near the location of the reported incident. Officers made contact and issued verbal commands directing him to get on the ground. Police stated Quizma refused to comply and instead picked up a large cinder block while continuing to ignore commands.
Officers reported that Quizma then took what they described as an aggressive stance toward them, prompting the deployment of OC spray. Police said he continued to resist despite multiple deployments.
Physical Struggle Leads to Arrest
According to the Eagle Pass Police Department, the situation escalated when Quizma grabbed one officer by the head during the struggle. A second officer intervened using force to cause Quizma to release the officer. Officers were eventually able to place him in hand restraints.
Emergency medical services responded to evaluate Quizma due to the use of OC spray. After being medically cleared, he was transported to the Eagle Pass Police Department for processing and later remanded to the Tom Bowles Detention Center.
Charges Filed
Police reported Quizma was charged with criminal mischief involving property damage between $2,500 and $30,000, resisting arrest or transport, and assault on a peace officer. Authorities emphasized that he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
