Former Schertz Police Officer Arrested on Sexual Assault Charges in Guadalupe County
Former Schertz officer Alberto De La Torre has been arrested on two sexual assault charges following a Texas Rangers investigation. He was previously fired for a truthfulness violation.
SAN ANTONIO, TX — A former Schertz Police Department officer has been arrested on two counts of sexual assault after a Texas Rangers investigation connected to allegations first reported in mid-November. The arrest marks a significant development in a case that began when the department opened a criminal investigation naming the officer as the alleged suspect.
Schertz Police confirmed that Alberto De La Torre, who served in the department’s K-9 unit, was terminated last week after a sustained complaint of truthfulness. The department earlier disclosed that it launched a sexual assault and official oppression investigation on November 14, listing De La Torre as the accused.

The Texas Rangers assumed the lead role in the criminal investigation shortly after the allegations surfaced.
High-Risk Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest
De La Torre was taken into custody on December 3 during a high-risk traffic stop in the 500 block of Hinge Falls in Cibolo. Officers from local agencies converged on the scene once the warrants were confirmed.
The Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office stated that De La Torre was wanted on two counts of sexual assault. He was arrested without incident and transported to the Guadalupe County Adult Detention Center, where he remains booked on the felony charges.
Background on De La Torre’s Employment
Records show that De La Torre began working for the Schertz Police Department in September 2020. He was assigned to the department’s K-9 unit before his termination.
Schertz Police leadership emphasized in earlier statements that all individuals involved in the investigation remain entitled to the presumption of innocence. The department also stated that officer rights matter, but noted that protecting the public and maintaining trust in the agency are core priorities.
Investigation Ongoing
Law enforcement agencies have not released additional details about the alleged incidents. The Texas Rangers continue to oversee the criminal case and will coordinate with Guadalupe County prosecutors.
The Maverick Times will update this story as new information becomes available.
