Major Drug and Weapons Bust in Crystal City Results in Multiple Arrests

CRYSTAL CITY, TX — A major joint enforcement operation has rattled Crystal City after law enforcement discovered large amounts of drugs, firearms, and cash inside a home. The Zavala County Sheriff’s Office (ZCSO) and the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division (TXDPS CID) executed a state search warrant on Sunday, August 17, 2025, as part of an ongoing effort to dismantle narcotics trafficking and organized criminal activity in the region.
Significant Seizure of Drugs, Firearms, and Cash
During the operation at a residence on West Webb Street, investigators confiscated more than 2,000 grams of cocaine, 445 grams of THC products, 114 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, and more than seven pounds of marihuana. Officers also seized multiple prescription pills inconsistent with lawful possession and approximately $8,000 in U.S. currency.
In addition, eleven firearms were recovered, including rifles and semi-automatic weapons.
Children at Risk
Authorities revealed that the narcotics, weapons, and cash were left unsecured inside the residence, creating a dangerous environment for minors living in the home. This discovery led to additional charges of child endangerment under Texas Penal Code §22.041.
Arrests and Charges
Two individuals were arrested at the scene. They now face multiple felony charges, including Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Marihuana, Unlawful Possession of Firearms in Furtherance of Drug Trafficking, Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity, and Endangering a Child.
Sheriff Salinas Responds
Zavala County Sheriff Eusevio E. Salinas Jr. commended the operation and highlighted the importance of cooperation between agencies.
“This joint operation underscores our continued commitment to safeguard the people of Zavala County,” Sheriff Salinas said. “By working hand in hand with our partners at the Texas Department of Public Safety, we have removed dangerous drugs, weapons, and criminal elements from our community. Most importantly, we acted to protect children who were put at serious risk by the reckless actions of those responsible.”
Crystal City and the Fight Against Organized Crime
Crystal City, a rural community with a population of fewer than 7,500, has increasingly become a focal point for organized crime networks exploiting small towns to store and transport narcotics. Officials stressed that this bust is among the largest seizures in Zavala County this year and sends a clear message to traffickers.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities indicated that further arrests may follow.
