Texas Teens Arrested After TikTok Vandalism Spree in Del Rio

A viral TikTok video showing park restrooms being destroyed with a hammer has led to the arrest of two juveniles in Del Rio.

The teens, ages 14 and 16, face felony charges after police tied them to a spree of vandalism across three city parks. One was caught at home. The other tried to escape by diving into San Felipe Creek before officers pulled him out near Magnolia Street.

Viral Video Sparks Outrage and Investigation

The Del Rio Police Department launched its investigation after receiving multiple reports of damage at Lions Park, Hogan Park, and Moore Park City Pool.

TikTok footage quickly made the rounds online. It showed one teen striking a porcelain toilet with a hammer while laughing. Detectives reviewed the video and security footage from the parks.

Community members also stepped up. Tips from concerned citizens helped identify the suspects within days. The video since their arrest has been removed.

Damage Estimated in Thousands

The vandalism caused extensive damage:

  • Lions Park: Broken toilet, ripped soap dispenser, and damaged water pipes
  • Hogan Park: Destroyed toilets, cracked sinks pulled from the wall, flooding from broken plumbing
  • Moore Park Pool: Trash cans thrown into the pool, portable toilets flipped, lights and bathroom signs destroyed, water fountain torn from the wall

City workers responded to clean up the damage. Officials say the cost of repairs is expected to exceed several thousand dollars.

Arrests Made After Chase Through Creek

Police located the 16-year-old suspect at his home and arrested him. The 14-year-old ran, jumped into San Felipe Creek, and tried to flee through the water. Officers chased him downstream and made the arrest without further incident.

During a search, police found a vape pen filled with THC concentrate hidden in the younger teen’s shoe.

Charges Filed

The 16-year-old was charged with:

  • Criminal Mischief between $2,500 and $30,000
  • Evading Arrest or Detention

The 14-year-old was charged with:

  • Criminal Mischief between $2,500 and $30,000
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance (under 1 gram, Penalty Group 2)

Police Credit Public and Warn Others

Del Rio Police say the investigation shows how quickly online videos can become evidence. Officers also released screenshots of comments reportedly made by the teens, showing a lack of remorse.

Police praised the community for helping identify the suspects and stressed the importance of protecting public spaces.
