Eagle Pass Eagles Return Strong in 2025 Football Season

EAGLE PASS, TEXAS – After a rare playoff absence in 2024, the Eagle Pass Eagles are back with a mission. Armed with 14 returning starters, a full year under new head coach Roger Olivas, and a community hungry for Friday night wins, the Eagles are preparing for what could be a major rebound year in District 30-6A.
A Proud Program with Proven Pedigree
The Eagles have been a consistent playoff contender in South Texas for the better part of a decade. Despite a 4–5 record in 2024 and a narrow miss from the postseason, their recent track record shows a program built on strong leadership and competitive tradition:
- 2024: 4–5
- 2023: 7–4
- 2022: 9–2
- 2021: 8–4
- 2020: 6–1 (COVID-impacted season)
- 2019: 6–5
- 2018: 9–3
With a long history of making the playoffs and challenging district opponents, Eagle Pass is looking to restore its postseason reputation.
Veteran Core Poised to Deliver
Coach Olivas, a 25-year veteran of the program and former defensive coordinator, now enters his second year as head coach. Under his direction, the team is expected to play with grit, discipline, and a renewed sense of urgency.
The offense will again be led by quarterback Xavier Barrera, who threw for over 1,100 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2024. Running back Luis Flores returns after a strong season that included 767 rushing yards and nine touchdowns. Wide receiver Sebastian Velasquez adds speed and downfield threat potential.
Defensively, the Eagles are anchored by safety Rodrigo Garcia (110 tackles, 3 interceptions), linebacker Rick Martinez, and defensive end Anthony Paniagua, both of whom earned all-district honors last year.
Full 2025 Football Schedule
Eagle Pass will test its roster early with competitive non-district matchups before diving into a district schedule filled with playoff-caliber teams. Key home games include Medina Valley, San Antonio Taft, and a highly anticipated homecoming battle against Laredo United.
