EAGLE PASS, TEXAS – The CC Winn Mavericks enter the 2025 football season with renewed focus, hungry to climb back into contention in District 14-5A Division I. Backed by a supportive community and the pride of Maverick County, the team is looking to turn the corner after recent tough seasons.

A Program Looking to Rebuild and Rise

The Mavericks have experienced their share of growing pains in recent years, but there’s no shortage of heart in this program. Under the continued leadership of the coaching staff and with returning players gaining varsity experience, CC Winn is focused on competing harder and smarter in 2025.

While the team finished 1–9 last season, signs of improvement were visible, especially in defensive toughness and offensive development. Now, with a more seasoned group and another year in the system, the pieces are in place to make strides.

Recent Season Records

The last several seasons have tested the Mavericks, but also built resilience. Here’s how they’ve performed:

  • 2024: 1–9
  • 2023: 1–9
  • 2022: 0–10
  • 2021: 6–6 (playoff appearance)
  • 2020: 5–3 (district only, COVID-shortened)
  • 2019: 3–7
  • 2018: 6–4

The 2021 season showed what the program is capable of when things align—and that’s the standard the Mavericks are working to return to.

2025 Season Schedule

The Mavericks open the season with their most anticipated game of the year: the Eagle Pass ISD rivalry against the Eagles. After that, they face a combination of regional opponents and tough district battles, including perennial playoff teams like Southside and Southwest.

Players to Watch

While official player stats for 2025 have not yet been released, several underclassmen from 2024 are expected to take on larger roles this year. The offensive unit is likely to feature returning linemen and developing quarterback play, while the defense will look to build around experienced linebackers and secondary pieces who took varsity reps last season.

Emerging leadership will be key. If this team can establish consistency early, especially in limiting turnovers and sustaining drives, they’ll be in position to flip close games into wins.

Season Outlook

The CC Winn Mavericks enter 2025 with a chip on their shoulder. They’ve spent the last two seasons battling through adversity, but now, with experience, pride, and a full schedule ahead, the Mavericks are looking to surprise their district rivals.

A strong showing in the non-district portion of the schedule could provide critical momentum before the meat of the district campaign begins. The home matchup against Southwest Legacy on Sept. 12 will be a pivotal early test, and the rivalry clash with Eagle Pass on Aug. 29 is the emotional tone-setter for the entire season.

Improvement won’t just be measured in wins and losses, it’ll be seen in tighter games, stronger finishes, and a more confident, competitive Maverick team.
