Our sources from the Eagle Pass Fire Department reported a significant wildfire erupted at Rio Brave Ranch, covering approximately 100 acres, prompting a rapid response from the Eagle Pass Fire Department. Initially reported by a passerby as an oil rig fire due to the thick black smoke billowing into the sky, the true nature of the incident was quickly uncovered upon arrival.

Emergency services were dispatched after receiving calls about what appeared to be an oil rig engulfed in flames. However, upon deploying a drone for aerial assessment, firefighters identified the source as a sprawling wildfire consuming dry vegetation across the ranch.

Advanced Techniques Employed

Firefighters faced the challenging task of containing a rapidly spreading fire in difficult terrain. Utilizing a back-burn technique—a method where controlled fires are set ahead of the main blaze to consume fuel and halt its progress—the team successfully managed to contain the wildfire.

“The use of drones allowed us to assess the situation quickly and plan our approach effectively,” said a spokesperson for the Eagle Pass Fire Department. “The back-burn technique was instrumental in controlling the fire’s spread and protecting nearby properties.”

Community Alerted

Local residents were alerted to the situation as smoke was visible from significant distances, causing concern among the community. Traffic advisories were issued to keep the area clear for emergency vehicles and to ensure public safety.

No Injuries Reported

Remarkably, no injuries were reported during the incident. Firefighters worked diligently for five hours to bring the fire under control, preventing potential damage to nearby structures and wildlife habitats.
