Jorge Barrera, General Manager of the City of Eagle Pass Water Works, recently met with the offices of U.S. Representatives Henry Cuellar, Tony Gonzales, Vicente Gonzalez, and Monica De La Cruz to discuss securing funding for a vital water project in Eagle Pass and Maverick County. Accompanied by Roberto Gonzalez, a former Eagle Pass Water Works General Manager, Barrera is advocating for the development of a second water source for the area.

The goal is to enhance the water infrastructure to meet the community’s growing needs. The collaboration with local, state, and federal representatives is a crucial step in ensuring the project’s success. Barrera emphasizes the importance of this initiative, stating, “We are here for our community.” The project aims to provide a more reliable water supply, reflecting the ongoing efforts to support and improve the region’s infrastructure.
