Eagle Pass ISD Board Moves To Appoint Morris Libson Instead of Placing Seat for Election
At a recent meeting of the Eagle Pass Independent School District (EPISD) Board of Trustees, Morris Libson Jr. was appointed to fill the seat left vacant by the passing of long-serving Trustee Lupita Fuentes in April 2024. The position, which could have been included in the upcoming election as per Texas Education Code Chapter 11, will now be filled by Libson until the next election cycle in 2026. Trustee Hiller made the motion to appoint Morris Libson Jr to fill the vacancy.
Led by President Jorge Barrera, the board discussed the appointment in executive session and voted in favor of Libson once the session concluded. The decision allows Libson to step into his new role immediately, continuing the work Fuentes began and representing the interests of the district moving forward.
