Edinburg Man Arrested Fourth Time for Alleged Sexual Acts with Horse
PHARR, Texas — An Edinburg man has been arrested for the fourth time on charges of bestiality and criminal trespass after being found allegedly having sex with a horse. Cirilo Castillo, 54, was taken into custody and booked into the Hidalgo County Jail, where his bond was set at $70,000.
Incident Details
The arrest occurred after a Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a residence on E. Alberta Road in Edinburg. The property owner, a woman, reported seeing Castillo in her stable around 6:15 a.m. while she was feeding her horses. According to the probable cause affidavit, she witnessed Castillo standing on a chair and having sex with her white mare.
The woman informed authorities that this was not the first time Castillo had trespassed on her property for the same reason. She had previously encountered him engaging in similar activities and had warned him against returning.

- 2013: Castillo pleaded guilty to having sex with a horse named “India,” an incident captured on video. At the time, former Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino expressed concerns that Castillo would likely continue this behavior, stating, “The people there in the neighborhood are just sick and tired of it, we just need to do something with this.”
- 2015: Castillo was arrested again after attempting to have sex with a horse. During this incident, he was kicked by the horse and sought shelter in a barn. When questioned by authorities, Castillo claimed he had been hit by a car.
- 2022: Castillo was arrested after a homeowner discovered someone was placing wooden benches and chairs in their horse stalls. Surveillance cameras installed in the stalls captured footage of Castillo lying on the floor and fumbling with his pants near the back of a horse.

Castillo was booked into the Hidalgo County Jail on June 18. His bond has been set at $70,000, and records indicate that his case has been reset to August 30.
