Vehicle Pursuit Ends in Rollover Crash, Several Injured
Pursuit reaches speeds of over 100 mph, nine undocumented individuals were involved
A vehicle pursuit that reached speeds of over 100 mph ended in a rollover crash in Maverick County on Tuesday night, leaving several people injured.
The pursuit began when a white Toyota SUV refused to stop for Maverick County Sheriff’s Deputies. The deputies terminated the pursuit, but the SUV continued driving at a high rate of speed. The vehicle eventually lost control and rolled over several times, ejecting the driver.
The driver was airlifted to a local hospital with serious injuries. Several other passengers were also injured and taken to the hospital.
It was later determined that the driver was transporting a total of nine undocumented individuals. Six of the uninjured passengers were released to U.S. Border Patrol.
The crash is under investigation.
