Arrest made in Kinney County for alleged smuggling of foreign nationals
Central Texans Emilio Victor Gonzalez, 32, from Lockhart, and Christi Marie Boone, 36, from Austin found themselves in handcuffs over the weekend after being caught in a smuggling operation in Kinney County. The pair was stopped by deputies on RR 334 during a routine patrol.
Upon further investigation, law enforcement officials discovered four passengers hidden in their vehicle, all of whom were determined to be undocumented foreign nationals. The individuals were attempting to evade detection and enter the country illegally.
Gonzalez and Boone were promptly arrested and now face charges related to human smuggling and immigration violations. Authorities are working to gather additional information regarding the extent of their operation, potential accomplices, and the origin of the smuggled individuals.
The arrest highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat illegal immigration and disrupt smuggling networks. Kinney County, situated near the U.S.-Mexico border, has been an area of concern due to its proximity to known smuggling routes.
Further updates on the investigation and legal proceedings are expected as authorities delve deeper into the case. The individuals apprehended in this operation will likely face deportation proceedings, while the suspects will be subject to the full force of the law.
