MAVERICK COUNTY OFFICIALS TESTIFY IN AUSTIN FOR FOUR-YEAR UNIVERSITY BILL

Maverick County officials, led by Judge Ramsey English Cantu, traveled to Austin on Wednesday to testify in front of the Texas House Higher Education Committee in support of House Bill 1960. The bill seeks to establish a four-year university in the area, and the officials expressed their unwavering commitment to working with legislators to make it a reality.

In attendance were Mayor Salinas, Superintendent Mijares, EPISD Board President Barrera, and other members of the delegation. Cantu thanked Rep. Morales for his instrumental work in advancing the county’s goals for higher education and community development.

The delegation’s testimony is a crucial step in the process of establishing a four-year university in Maverick County, which would provide students with access to higher education and create economic opportunities for the region.
