5TH GRADE STUDENT ARRESTED FOR WRITTEN THREAT IN FLORIDA
A fifth grader at Patriot Elementary School located in Cape Coral was arrested after the School’s Threat Enforcement Team was notified by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office of a threatening text message. The threat enforcement team was able to trace the origins of the threatening text message and the case was taken to the local juvenile criminal investigations unit. Detectives found probable cause to charge and arrest the 10 year old boy with “Making a threat to conduct a mass shooting.”
“This student’s behavior is sickening, especially after the recent tragedy in Uvalde, Texas. Making sure our children are safe is paramount. We will have law and order in our schools. My team didn’t hesitate one second, not one second, to investigate this threat.“Right now is not the time to act like a little delinquent. It’s not funny. This child made a fake threat, and now he’s experiencing real consequences.”
