A shooting on a South Carolina beach left six people injured after a series of fights broke out among high school seniors who were skipping school before spring break, according to police. The incident occurred on Friday around 5:20 p.m. ET at the Isle of Palms beach, which was crowded with hundreds of people at the time of the shooting. Police Chief Kevin Cornett confirmed that the shooting took place amid several fights that erupted during senior skip day.

Cornett stated that five of the injured were around 18 years old, while one adult woman in her mid-30s or early 40s was also wounded. The injured were taken to the hospital, but none of the injuries were life-threatening. The police have not yet determined whether there was a single shooter or multiple shooters.

Several people have been detained by the police, and an investigation is currently ongoing. Several firearms were recovered from the scene, but the police chief could not confirm if they were the weapons involved in the shooting.
